MOTHER MEERA: MYSTERY BEHIND THE MOTHER

Updated on October 3, 2015

Light of Paramatman

We will be celebrating Navratri very soon. During Navratri aspects of the Divine Mother are worshiped and honored in various ways. There are mysteries behind the Mother. She is the life force and Shakti of the Universe. Nothing happens in this world without the energy of the Mother. From time to time the Mother incarnates in human form. Many times it is the devotees who recognize her as an incarnation of the Universal Mother. In the case of Mother Meera, she knew from a very young age that she was an avatar (incarnation) of the Mother.

On December 26, 1960 Kamala Reddy appeared in Chandepalle, Nalgonda district, Andra Pradesh, India. At a very young age of six her first samadhi (spiritual) experience lasted the entire day. At the age of 12 she met Bulgur Venkat Reddy (no relation) who had seen her in visions prior to their meeting. Over time he became convinced she was an avatar of the Mother. One evening she traveled 50 miles away from his location. He heard her voice as though she was right in the room even though she was 50 miles away. He searched for her, but she was not there in the room. He traveled 50 miles to the location where she said she would be. When he got there she told him, "I came to you and you did not notice anything. I called out to you and you did not hear." She said she came to him in a different way than through the physical senses. She said, "There is another way of traveling. Don't you know?"

In 1974 he took Mother to the Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Pondichery. This ashram is in South India. Adilakmi Olati, who was a disciple of Venkat Reddy and Sweet Mother, had some interesting experiences with Mother Meera. She wrote a book on Mother Meera entitled The Mother. The book has descriptions of a number of these mystical experiences between 1974 and 1983. During this time Mother Meera merged with Durga, Kali, Sarswati and Lakshmi at various times. She received the light of Paramatman in various occurrences at the Aurobindo Ashram starting in 1974. Her description of this receiving of the light is physical and spiritual. She said of her experience with the light, "The Light is bursting out from me as a tremendous sound like thunder and dazzling like bright sunlight...I am sensing Light like this everywhere three times a day. The Light is covering the whole Earth. When the Light leaves my body, it leaves with an enormous sound so that I can not hear for three hours afterwards." Very powerful experiences indeed.

In 1982 she was living in Germany and married a German. His identity is not known to the general public since he does not appear with her in public when she gives her darshan at Scholoss Schaumburg in Balduinstein, a little town in Germany. She gives this darshan four days a week: Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a check in at 6:15 p.m. You have to call in advance for a reservation to experience her darshan. She touches your head and looks you right in the eyes. Her light is passed on to you. You can experience peace and bliss during the darshan. Some people are healed of their illnesses when she touched them. Some experience not much change or energy exchange. It varies from person to person what the effect will be be. She does not chant, read or give lectures. Darshan is given in complete silence. In this silence it is possible to be so calm as to connect with the Divine. From own experience of seeing various forms of the deities, I know there are two states when you can see them: when you are completely calm and when you are in a crisis.

She does not have a set of teachings. Her basic philosophy is to promote each person's divinity and the discovery of the divinity within each person. She is a Bhakti Yogini, much like Mira Bai, a medieval mystic, seer, saint and poet. Some say Mira was an avatar. Mira Bai merely dissolved into light along with the murti of Krishna at a temple in Dwarka, India.

Mother Meera promotes people working and living in the world, not at an Ashram. She says, "When people are really dedicated to the Divine in the world, there is no difference between action and prayer." The greatest prayer is right action.

Healing from past experiences can be a very powerful thing for the devotee. I have studied both Reiki and Qigong. Sometimes I have had masters of Reiki and Qigong do a healing on me. You can move a lot during these sessions. Parts of the body move back and forth on their own without any thought at all. You can see visions of past life events or events in this life which need to be healed. You can feel blissful and see forms of the various deities. Her darshan could very well be experienced just like having a healing. I say may the energy of the Mother come to you today.

Mother Meera blesses us in her darshan and through all our actions. Prayer and action become one. True spiritual experiences can not be explained in rational terms. They can only be experienced in the heart. For the Goddess brings love into the world.

JAI SHRI MA! JAI SHRI MOTHER MEERA! JAI SHRI DARSHAN!
